Update on Container Gardens

Last may I started a container garden. I wanted to give my update and opinion.

In my experience, I did not grow enough vegetables to store for the winter, but I did get enough to eat. Actually, my strawberries are still growing. I am very surprised to still have green strawberries on the vine. I still had green beans blooming in October. I finally pulled them out.

The topsy turvy tomato planters did surprisingly well. Although my husband was complaining that they didn't grow very many tomatoes. I had to tell him it was because I ate them all. I guess he wants loads of tomatoes not just enough to put into a salad or on a sandwich or for me to eat as a snack.

If you are wanting a few fresh vegetables to put on the table, container gardens are great. If you are looking to have enough vegetables for canning for freeze, you may need to find space in the yard for a bigger garden.

To me it was worth the time and money. Especially since it only took about 5 minutes to pull weeds and water the plants. I don't have time to do any canning and I don't have the space for a large garden. My container gardens was just right for my lifestyle. I would recommend it.
