Going Green Extreme

Ok, you have changed your light bulbs, changed to a tankless hot water heater, upgraded your heating and air conditioning systems. Now what?

Now you are ready to spend a little upfront money to save money down the road and save the planet. How?

Here are 7 extreme ways to power your home naturally. According to the article on MSNBC you can not only use the sun and wind to power you home, but water as well.

This tip peaked my interested since I live by the Mississippi River. Micro-hydro power. Using pipes to run water through a turbine and back out to the creek or river to power your home. I know hydro-power has been around for a long time, but I have never thought to use it to power just my home.

Unfortunately, I would have to set up all three natural power generators to have continues power. Where I live, we have wind, but not all the time. We have sun, but lately we have had more clouds and rain. We have water running through creeks, but not all the time. I can see my In-Laws doing it though. They have the perfect place and land. They could really be self-sufficient if they really wanted to.

Anyway, check out the article. You may find another way to save money and go green at the same time.
